What kind of food do people order during TGIT?

Posted on

ABC/Mitch Haaseth

Those who tune in to ABC on Thursday nights, a.k.a. TGIT, are all too familiar with the emotional trauma that comes along with attempting to sit through Shondaland television shows without fainting from distress. But, by the looks of some exclusive data provided by Grubhub, it’s safe to say that food is a necessity for powering through arguably the most important night of the week.

For three consecutive TGIT nights this fall Grubhub found Vietnamese cuisine was the No. 1 most-ordered food. Out of the 25 most popular dishes ordered using the app, shio ramen was 73 percent more likely to be ordered on TGIT than any other night of the week. Following closely behind was chicken vegetable soup at 69 percent, and sopa de tortilla at 62%. Other popular dishes included Matzo ball soup, shredded chicken pho, split pea soup, and wonton noodle soup.

Not surprisingly, there was also a spike in alcohol orders by 14 percent, with chardonnay, imported beer, and tequila ranking among the most popular. See the full rankings below.
