Trevor Noah ripped Donald Trump and his campaign surrogates over sexual misconduct allegations leveled against the GOP nominee this week by multiple women.
“Yes, people, in the last 24 hours, six women have come forward with their personal stories about allegedly being assaulted by Donald Trump,” Noah said on Thursday’s The Daily Show, before citing the 2005 video of Trump boasting he can grab women “by the p—y” because of his fame. “And who would have thought! The guy who says he forces himself on women actually forces himself on women? I guess he really does tell it like it is.”
Trump has denied the allegations that he kissed and grabbed the women without consent, as have his campaign surrogates. On Wednesday night, Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson told a CNN panel that one of the alleged incidents, which took place on an airplane in the 1980s, couldn’t have happened because of the fixed armrests on the seats. (The video of Pierson defending Trump went viral and was widely mocked online.)
“I’m disgusted by what Trump allegedly did to these women, but in a way I’m even more disgusted by the people trying to protect him,” Noah said of Pierson and others. “Because think about it: Trump says he does the thing, women say, ‘Yeah, he did the thing,’ and then all of a sudden people are, like, ‘Well, no, it’s not real. It’s not real. It’s not real.'”
In the wake of the Trump allegations, it was reported his campaign would attack former President Bill Clinton, husband of Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton, for his own sexual assault allegations by turning him into “Bill Cosby.”
“You want to talk about Bill Cosby?” Noah asked on Thursday. “Think about it: With Cosby it took 20 women before people started believing it. The difference was, he’s Bill Cosby. Because before his victims came forward, Cosby hadn’t spent his entire career bragging about what he had done. … He wasn’t doing that. Trump was.”
