The world may need to wait a little longer to be saved — at least until its heroes have had a few more Skylander Academy classes under their belt.
The new Netflix animated series, which is set to premiere on Oct. 28, follows the adventures of new cadets Spyro, Stealth Elf, and Eruptor as they train to become heroes. Though, as the exclusive trailer above reveals, it won’t be quite so easy.
And if main characters Spyro (voiced by Justin Long), Stealth Elf (Ashley Tisdale), Eruptor (Jonathan Banks), and Glumshanks (Norm Macdonald) seem familiar, it’s because they’re already the stars of the popular Skylanders toys-to-life video game franchise that allows players to combine various playable toy figures with video game content. Susan Sarandon, Parker Posey, Daniel Wu, and Bobcat Goldthwait are among the other stars lending their voice talents to season 1.
The show marks Activision Blizzard Studios‘ — also home to Call of Duty, Destiny, World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and King’s Candy Crush — first project from it’s newly launched film and television division.
Eric Rogers (Futurama) serves as showrunner for the series, while Activision Blizzard Studios co-presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk, Bobby Kotick, and Emmy winner Sander Schwartz (The Batman, Justice League: The New Frontier) executive produce.
Skylanders Academy will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 28. Season 2 is slated for late 2017. Meanwhile, the newest game, Skylanders Imaginators, hits shelves on Oct. 16.
