Mischa Barton stars in Joyride on Esquire

Posted on

Don’t put actress Mischa Barton in a box… unless its housing four wheels, a killer engine, and a sick paint job.

EW has the exclusive first look at the new series Joyride, which will feature four car-obsessed hosts, including Barton, rapper T-Pain, professional racecar driver Brian Vickers, and actor Oliver Trevena. The Esquire Network series will bring viewers on a road trip each week with the celebrity hosts as they hit the streets in some of the most incredible new and vintage cars out there. It’s not all smooth driving, as each week the cars will be pushed to their limits in a head-to-head competition to determine the best cars of all time.

Barton graced audiences during her days on The O.C. as Marissa Cooper, but behind the sun-soaked teen angst was a star that loved classic and European luxury cars, with an ever-growing collection of vintage Cadillacs. She even restores old cars on her own, which will put her in fair competition against Nascar Sprint Cup Series winner Vickers, British car show host Trevana, and restoration enthusiast T-Pain.

This marks Barton’s first series since The CW’s ill-fated model drama, The Beautiful Life, in 2009. She appeared in an episode of Freeform’s Recovery Road earlier this year.

“Esquire Network’s viewers have a huge appetite and passion for cars, and we are excited to partner with the crew at Critical Content again to bring this new series to air,” Matt Hanna, EVP of original programming at Esquire Network, said in a statement. “Our four dynamic and highly opinionated hosts — T-Pain, Brian, Mischa, and Oliver — each have a very personal connection and life-long obsession with cars. And we know that getting them to agree on one particular automobile each episode will fuel an engaging debate that is not only very educational, but also highly entertaining.”

The fun and thrilling test drives will crown a winning car each week in several classic categories, including best classic truck, best British car, best ‘80s car, best midlife crisis car, and more.

Joyride will premiere Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Esquire Network. Watch the exclusive trailer below.
