Wolverine 3: Boyd Holbrook's Logan villain revealed

The Logan movie news is coming fast now. Barely a week ago, we didn’t even know the title of Hugh Jackman’s third and final solo Wolverine film. Now we know it features an older Logan (and an even older Professor X) in a probable riff on the “Old Man Logan” storyline, and director James Mangold has released several teaser photos on Instagram. The latest reveals the identity of the film’s villain, played by Boyd Holbrook. On Monday, Mangold posted a set photo of Holbrook with the one-word caption “Pierce.” This seems to confirm that Holbrook is playing the evil cyborg Donald Pierce.

Pierce first appeared in X-Men comics as a member of the Hellfire Club, an evil mutant organization seen in 2011’s X-Men: First Class (he was one of the few non-mutant members). Later, he emerged as the leader of The Reavers, a band of evil cyborgs dedicated to wiping out mutants. Although Pierce and the Reavers had some brutal encounters with Wolverine, they were not a part of the original “Old Man Logan” storyline, so it remains to be seen how they will factor in here.
