The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. know how to throw down when it comes to Marvel baddies, but they also have their sights on the DC Universe. It’s all in good fun, of course.
Stars of the ABC series Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, and Gabriel Luna, along with Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, stopped by the EW Radio booth Thursday at New York Comic Con to talk all things season 4 of the show. Apart from the discussion on how the next phase of the show’s story will tie into the cinematic universe, the cast got in the spooky October spirit to talk about their favorite horror films.
Bennet calls out DC’s recent film attempt Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the scariest movie “because it was bad.” The rest of the gang erupts in gasps and laughter, with Luna and Loeb joking “shots fired.” While not exactly a horror movie, the superhero crossover film battled heavily in theaters against Marvel’s own “versus” film, Captain America: Civil War, which pitted the Avengers against one another.
The battle between Marvel and DC not only rages in theaters, but also on TV, with The CW home to DC’s Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, while Marvel stays strong with Agents on ABC and the long list of Netflix series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the upcoming series Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders. During the full length interview with EW, Loeb teased a possible tie-in with the upcoming phase 3 Marvel film Doctor Strange on Agents, plus the recent arrival of Luna as Ghost Rider offers more options for Marvel to play with on TV and film.
