Elementary better prepare for the arrival of another character from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s canon. On Friday, Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu teased the arrival of Shinwell at New York Comic Con; the new addition will be played by True Blood actor Nelsan Ellis.
“He is bringing with him an extra layer for both of us in different ways,” Liu said. “It looks like Holmes might not be always getting along with the new guy. They’re not easy with one another.”
Miller said Watson “is at a fork in the road,” this season and Holmes encourages her to help the newcomer. The arrival Shinwell brings up memories for Watson because she already knows him. “She helped him obviously when he was in the hospital,” Liu explained. “She performed this incredible surgery on him and saved his life. I think in some ways she thinks that she can help manage or bring him to a level where he wants to make a change, which is what he claims he wants to do.”
