If you’re gonna talk about politics with your drinking buddies, you’d be hard pressed to find a bigger expert than Rachel Maddow.
Not only does Maddow serve as the host of The Rachel Maddow Show (which airs weekdays at 9 p.m. on MSNBC), but she’s also the co-anchor of MSNBC’s primetime political coverage, alongside Brian Williams. (Plus, we’d read that she mixes a mean martini.) With the presidential election only a few weeks away, EW invited Maddow to hangout for a few after-work drinks at the storied Hurley’s Saloon in midtown Manhattan, where we asked her very, very important political questions like: If Donald Trump were an animal, what would he be? And if Hillary Clinton were a musical instrument, what would she be?
We also asked Maddow about her favorite and least favorite presidents, dove into weird presidential hobbies — including John Quincy Adams’ penchant for skinny-dipping — and took Maddow through a round of presidential “Who’d You Rather?” including a battle between George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. “Oh, that’s too easy,” Maddow said with a laugh.
