A teaser just dropped for the Keanu Reeves-starring John Wick: Chapter 2 (out Feb. 10, 2017) and all we can say is, “Ciao!” That’s because “Ciao!” is, alas, the only Italian we know (unless “pizza” counts), and Italy is very much where Reeves’ out-of-retirement hitman is headed in the action sequel.
“We wanted to create a little bit of glitz,” the film’s director, Chad Stahelski, recently told EW. “We thought about expanding it over to where the Wick world comes from, which would be a lot deeper into the past, which has more of a European vibe. We thought about all the cities we could go to, and because we have a certain kind of style with the suits, and the etiquette, we just thought Italian style and sensibility was best suited for our film. So, we went and shot in Rome.”
John Wick: Chapter 2 also stars Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Ruby Rose, Common, and British comic actor Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Shaun of the Dead), who is seen in the just-released footage. The teaser also confirmed that the first proper trailer will be revealed at this week’s New York Comic Con, where the John Wick: Chapter 2 panel is being held on the afternoon of Oct. 8.
