Hamilton: Lin-Manuel Miranda stars in voting PSAs

Posted on

Talk less, smile more, and make sure to vote. That’s the takeaway from a trio of videos featuring Hamilton creator and former star Lin-Manuel Miranda as well as other cast members (including Renée Elise Goldsberry) which switch up the lyrics for “The Schuyler Sisters” into a pro-vote theme.

“There’s nothing Americans love more than posting online who you should vote for,” Miranda raps in the PSA. “You tweet and you snap and you gawk, but if you don’t show up and vote, it’s all just talk.”

Cue Goldsberry, Lexi Lawson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones — the other Schuyler sisters: “America, the time is now,” they sing, along with other performers from the Tony-winning show. “Decide who wins this — vote!”

Goldsberry takes lead in another video and twists one of her signatures line: “And when you vote for president, you get to pick who participates in the sequel!” In the final clip, Miranda and Anthony Ramos rap in Spanish.

Miranda endorsed Hillary Clinton this summer and is headlining a one-night benefit show for her campaign on Oct. 17 with Hollywood and Broadway like Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris set to participate.
