A relationship with producer Lee Daniels is clearly a gift that keeps on giving.

After being killed off his current Fox hit, Empire, Naomi Campbell is making her way to what the network hopes will be Daniels’ next one. Star isn’t due to premiere until 2017, but the show about three singers seeking fame just landed itself a set of seriously long legs.

Campbell has been cast in the recurring role of Rose Spencer, the affluent, London-born mother of Alexandra (Ryan Destiny), the best friend of the show’s leading lady Star (Jude Demorest). Alexandra, Star, and Star’s sister Simone (Brittany O’Grady) join forces as a kick-ass girl group trying to make it in the gritty Atlanta music scene.

The show also features Queen Latifah as Carlotta, a surrogate mother to the three girls, and Benjamin Bratt as Jahil, a downtrodden agent looking to get his career back on track.

Daniels is the co-creator and will serve as executive producer alongside fellow co-creator Tom Donaghy.
