On Thursday Niall Horn dropped his first ever solo single, “This Town,” and mentioned in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that perhaps there could be a One Direction reunion one day. “Everyone’s kind of doing their own things,” he explained. “I still talk to them all the time, but I definitely wouldn’t rule it out.” Cue the excited squeals.
He later spoke to the host of SiriusXM Hits 1, Sypder Harrison, in an interview where he expounded on the likelihood of the band getting back together.
After brand new merch and a “Future Events” tab was recently added to the One Direction official website, fans went into overdrive believing a reunion could be imminent, but when Harrison asked Horan about it he said, “I don’t know what happened there, but yeah, for the foreseeable, you know, we’re just taking a break and kind of doing our own thing. I definitely won’t rule that out because it’s the best thing… Our lives wouldn’t be the same.” In other words: There’s hope, 1D fans.
He also explained his reasons for releasing “This Town” before the rest of the album is completed. “I wanted to kind of let people know that I was up to something so they didn’t think I’d just fallen off the face of the earth,” he said. “That’s the only song that’s actually fully finished.”
He added that he feels “very lucky” and has “a good team around him,” but hasn’t got a clue what the album will be called. As for a release date? “It’s early doors,” was the only answer he had. “Whenever I finish it.”
