Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher has returned, commanding police and hopping buildings, in the new IMAX trailer for the action sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
The new clip, seen above, delivers the titular hero’s particular brand of justice in the midst of political and military trauma. After escaping the clutches of the police by turning the cuffs on them, Reacher is contacted by Army Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders) after she’s arrested for treason. Turner heads Reacher’s old investigative unit and has acted as a loyal partner to him, which forces Reacher to stop at nothing to prove her innocence.
Taking punches and jumping from building to building, Reacher never stops taking justice into his own hands. It seems the military is behind Turner’s framing, which places a target on her back and sets the stage for a political thriller that Reacher must navigate alone.
Never Go Back is adapted from Lee Child’s 18th novel in the best-selling series of the same name. Director Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai) joins forces with Cruise once again, with screenplay adaptation by Marshall and Child Herskovitz.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back hits theaters Oct. 21.
