Just because there’s a commercial break doesn’t mean the show stops.

On Tuesday, Kate Hudson gave The Tonight Show audience a ’90s-tastic surprise when she chatted with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots during a commercial break. Teasing Fallon, Hudson claimed his first concert was En Vogue. And even though it was actually Weird Al Yankovic, Hudson wound up busting out the female R&B group’s classic “Hold On.”

“When I had you, I treated you bad,” Hudson started, nailing the melody.

It didn’t take long for music man Fallon to join in, after which The Roots provided accompaniment. It got Hudson and Fallon out of their seats, proving the cutest moments don’t always make it to air. Thankfully, we have the internet.
