After some 30 years since starring on British television, Tracey Ullman’s Show has brought the comedian back to her roots, and now it’s coming to HBO.
The new trailer for series reveals the titular actress channeling fellow British stars, including Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and British Royal Family members Camilla Parker-Bowles and Carole Middleton (Princess Kate’s mother). Originally aired earlier this year on BBC One, the sketch series features six episodes, with each story following a character over 24-hour periods. Ullman imagines Dench doing some vandalizing in her free time, keying cars, slashing tires and getting away with it all.
The Into the Woods actress even takes on her own version of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, revealing the head of government behind closed doors as a “sturdy German Pussycat Doll.” While famous faces will be the focus, Ullman will also embody average individuals to show the day-to-day life in Britain.
Ullman first appeared on American network TV in 1987 with The Tracey Ullman Show on Fox. Her successful comedic chops moved her to HBO from 1996 to 1999 for Tracey Takes On…, with an eventual move to Showtime in 2008 for Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union.
Tracey Ullman’s Show premieres Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 p.m. ET on HBO.
