Hollywood is remembering Curtis Hanson, the director of films like L.A. Confidential and 8 Mile, following the filmmaker’s death Tuesday at the age of 71.
Eminem, who starred in 2002’s 8 Mile, is among those who paid tribute. “Curtis Hanson believed in me and our crazy idea to make a rap battle movie set in Detroit. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile. I’m lucky I got to know him,” the rapper said in a statement.
Guy Pearce, who starred in Hanson’s L.A. Confidential, shared a photo of them on Twitter and wrote, “So sad to lose Curtis Hanson. No one taught me as much about film acting as this man. A father figure and mentor. I will miss you my friend.”
