The Whole Truth trailer stars Renee Zellweger, Keanu Reeves

Lionsgate

In Bridget Jones’s Baby, Renée Zellweger becomes a new mother and has to figure out whether Colin Firth or Patrick Dempsey is the father. In her next movie The Whole Truth, she’s trying to keep her baby — in this case, her teenage son — out of jail for killing his father, her abusive husband.

The new trailer for the Lionsgate thriller, directed by Courtney Hunt (Frozen River), shows Zellweger as Loretta Lassiter, whose son Mike (Gabriel Basso, The Big C) confesses to murdering his father Boone (Jim Belushi). Enter Keanu Reeves as Richard Ramsay, Loretta’s friend who happens to be a defense attorney. While he shares startling revelations in court about Boone’s violent behavior, Richard’s new colleague Janelle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) starts to question their claims. “What if Mike didn’t stab his father?” she asks Richard.
