No one has ever mistaken Jimmy Fallon for an investigative reporter, let alone Jimmy Fallon.

Asked after Sunday night’s Emmys about his much-criticized interview with Donald Trump on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, Fallon said, “Have you seen my show?”

The host spoke to TMZ following the Emmys, and added, “I’m never too hard on anyone. We’ll have Hillary [Clinton] on tomorrow, and we’ll do something fun with her too.”

Fallon’s interview with the Republican presidential candidate struck a chord with viewers, who slammed the host for not going after Trump on the issues and his inflammatory rhetoric. Instead, Fallon tussled Trump’s hair, an image that many mocked online.

But while Fallon didn’t use his Tonight Show platform to attack Trump, others on the show did. The Roots played Erykah Badu’s “20 Feet Tall” as Trump walked out for his interview, which includes the lyrics, “Then you, you built a wall/ A 20-foot wall so I couldn’t see.” The song was widely seen as a reference to Trump’s proposed plan to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico border.

On Friday’s show, guest Miley Cyrus also referenced Trump’s interview with Fallon, joking that Fallon should not think about “messing with my hair.”

Despite teasing that he’ll do something “fun” with Clinton for Monday’s show, it seems Fallon already checked that off his list: the Democratic nominee taped her segment on Friday, and Fallon mocked her recent pneumonia diagnosis by wearing a surgical mask.
