Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch describes his titular character as “incredibly arrogant” in a new promotional video released by Marvel Studios to promote its latest superhero movie, which is released Nov. 4.

“Strange is incredibly arrogant, brilliant, sort of extraordinary,” says the Sherlock star, “and his need to control fates to control destiny, and, in particular death, has brought him to the height of his profession as a neurosurgeon.”

In the film, Cumberbatch’s character, Dr. Stephen Strange, is mentored in the ways of sorcery and inter-dimensional travel by The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) after his hands are badly damaged in a car accident.

In addition to highlighting Strange, the video also looks at the film’s villains, including Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius. “We’re excited about the villains in this film,” says Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “These are people who become seduced by what they find on the other side. They are interested in spilling the barriers between these dimensions.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, the film costars Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Benedict Wong.
