There’s a new scribe in charge of bringing Nathan Drake to life.

Bad Boys 3 director Joe Carnahan has been plucked by Sony to write the Uncharted movie, an adaptation of the wildly successful and acclaimed Playstation adventure series, EW has learned. He is not presently on board to direct.

Carnahan later addressed the news on Twitter, putting fans of the Naughty Dog/Sony franchise at ease that he’s the man for the job.

“Fans of the “UNCHARTED” series. Breathe easy friends,” Carnahan tweeted. “I promise. I got this one. #NathanDrake”

Carnahan has directed a number of action movies in recent years, from The Grey to Smokin’ Aces.

Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon was attached to and subsequently left Uncharted. As of now, it’s pegged for a June 30, 2017 release.

Bad Boys 3 was recently dated for June 2, 2017, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back in the fold.

The Uncharted movie, an Arad/Atlas Entertainment Production, is being produced by Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.

Sony declined comment.

Variety first reported the news.
