Superheroes are taking over Saturday at Comic-Con 2016, with Marvel and DC dominating the July 23 lineup.
In addition to a Marvel Animation panel, Marvel President Kevin Feige will lead a movie presentation, joined by “special guests” who will give an “inside look at the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 helmer James Gunn previously teased a presence from their respective films.
On the DC front, Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow will all entertain fans and audiences in San Diego, along with a celebration of 75 years of Wonder Woman that promises “topnotch talent and a few surprise guests.”
Aliens and Star Trek are also celebrating anniversaries. Director James Cameron and star Sigourney Weaver, among others, will hit Hall H for their movie’s 30th anniversary panel, while the Star Trek franchise will commemorate 50 years with appearances from William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Michael Dorn, Jeri Ryan, and Brent Spiner.
Also in Hall H, Gotham actress Morena Baccarin, Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist, Ash vs Evil Dead star Lucy Lawless, Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, and Connie Nielsen, who plays Queen Hippolyta in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, will join EW to discuss “the power and privilege of playing women that redefine the rules and refuse to yield.”
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will headline two panels. One will discuss his multiplatform entertainment company, Skybound, while he’ll be joined by Outcast stars Patrick Fugit, Philip Glenister, Wrenn Schmidt, Brent Spiner, and Reg E Cathey for the other to talk about that Cinemax series.
Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, January Jones, and more from the cast of The Last Man on Earth will join EW editor Henry Goldblatt to talk about the FOX comedy’s “evolution and surprising twist and turns from the first two shocking seasons as well as tease the upcoming third season.” EW writer Dan Snierson will moderate a panel including Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows, and more for FOX’s new hybrid live-action/animation family comedy Son of Zorn, which also stars Jason Sudeikis.
And in a Comic-Con Saturday tradition, the night will close with writer-director Kevin Smith, who will “tell silly stories and talk about his new movie Yoga Hosers, his AMC Network shows Comic Book Men and Geeking Out, directing an episode of The Flash for The CW, his forthcoming Buckaroo Banzai adaptation, and the Mallrats sequel that’s gonna be a TV series!”
