Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) will find himself in a dangerous situation when Suits season 6 kicks off next week.
In the USA Network drama’s fifth season finale, Mike signed a plea deal for two years in prison in order to protect his friends at Pearson Specter Litt. The new season opens with him in prison, and in an exclusive chat with EW at ATX Television Festival, star Patrick J. Adams teased what’s in store for Mike behind bars.
“He’s not feeling great. Mike is not very happy to be in prison, obviously,” said Adams. “But, there is an element of freedom. He’s been holding this secret for five years, and now he gets to move past it. When we find him, he’s just in that zone where he’s about to be licking his wounds and sort of trying to figure out how he’s going to spend the next few years.”
Obviously, Mike won’t have an easy or safe time in prison. “A threat sort of comes along, and he’s forced into a situation where he needs to start defending himself and coming up with a game plan of how to protect himself over the long haul,” said the SAG Award-nominated actor. “So, he’s activated by having something he needs to do.”
The season will find Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike working together to figure out how to handle this threat and, more importantly, how to get him out of prison.
