Are the Spice Girls getting their act together for a reunion?
On Friday, a video called “Spice Girls – GEM” was uploaded to YouTube, featuring former members Melanie “Mel B” Brown (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice).
“We’ve been thinking. We have the best fans in the whole entire world,” Brown states in the clip.
“You’ve stood by us for 20 years, and we want to say a big thank-you,” adds Halliwell.
“We’ve had our ups and downs, but you’ve always been there,” says Bunton.
The comments lead into the video’s big reveal: the announcement of a “party” at an unspecified later date. “You’re all invited,” the trio of women say in unison.
“Happy 20th birthday to all our fans,” reads text following the group’s remarks. “This is a celebration for you! We hope to tell you soon.”
In addition to the video, a website also appeared on Friday, using the same title as the video: www.spicegirlsgem.com.
Talk of a Spice Girls reunion has happened before. “It is our 20th anniversary this year,” Brown said earlier this year during an interview with Kelly Ripa and Anderson Cooper. “This would be the perfect year [for a reunion], but places get booked out this year, so what we’ll hopefully do is, we’re planning on doing something to celebrate next year.”
“It’s something we want to do and it would be nice to celebrate and give thanks to all the fans,” Brown added. “I’m not getting any younger, so let’s hurry up and get this done.”
Brown previously said it would be “rude” not to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
The Spice Girls last performed together in full capacity at the 2012 Olympics in London.
