The Monkees: You Bring the Summer video debuts

Posted on

The recently-released Monkees album Good Times! features some sonically-refurbished tracks from the band’s vaults and a number of new tunes written by the likes of Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie, and XTC’s Andy Partridge, who penned the season-appropriate new single “You Bring the Summer.”

“I don’t listen to a lot of contemporary music,” Monkees drummer-singer Micky Dolenz told EW in a recent interview. “But I’d heard of Weezer, and Death Cab for Cutie, and XTC, of course — Andy Partridge. It was like the perfect storm, it just all came together. Because this indie-rock world sounds just like old ’60s jangly pop guitar music. It’s uncanny. But I guess what’s old is new, what goes around, comes around.”

You can exclusively see the new video for “You Bring the Summer,” below.
