Monday’s installment of The Late Late Show with James Corden featured a Carpool Karaoke commute with Selena Gomez that went off the rails. Or rather, on them.
The singer — who is traversing the country on her Revival tour — joined our late-night host on his ride to work and they dueted on “Same Old Love” before she prodded him to take a detour. He rolled with the change, literally, as they wound up on a rollercoaster, singing her 2013 hit “Come & Get It.”
What followed were renditions of more Gomez songs like “Hands to Myself, “Love You Like a Love Song,” “Kill Em With Kindness,” the downing of Gomez’s preferred ginger shots (Corden: not so much a fan of that), and a McDonald’s drive-thru pit stop, which gave a cashier a freak-out to remember and Gomez a very special cup. And here’s your musical dessert: When Corden mentioned to Gomez that he found Taylor Swift’s squad — of which Gomez is a member — somewhat sexist as men aren’t allowed to join, Gomez shook it off, retorting that the industry could use a little reverse sexism, and then they sang, yes, “Shake It Off.”
