By now, Tom Hiddleston knows how to make a good headline. Before his kiss with Taylor Swift was the snapshot heard ’round the world, the 35-year-old actor’s lips weren’t his only body part subject to tabloid fodder.

In a new interview with W magazine, Hiddleston addresses his sex scene in episode 4 of The Night Manager, a clip now infamous for cutting an ever-brief glimpse of his derriere. The uncensored version went live in the U.K., but, to many fans’ disappointment, didn’t make the stateside broadcast when it aired on AMC.

“I was surprised to hear that they cut my butt out!” Hiddleston told W. “I’m here to tell you that my butt is not dangerous. And there are many, many more dangerous things that people are happy to broadcast. I don’t know what that says about the world we live in, but it probably says something.”

Hiddleston also spoke on his role in the BBC mini-series, in which he plays a soldier-turned-hotel-manager sent undercover to crack open a weapon smuggling ring. The part was largely interpreted as an audition for the next James Bond, though Hiddleston insists the rumor is only gossip.

“I’d make a terrible spy, because everybody knows who I am,” he said. “But Susanne Bier, the director of The Night Manager, said that she thinks I am very enigmatic and good at keeping secrets.”
