This isn’t the Ecto-1 you remember. In the upcoming reboot of the 1984 supernatural comedy Ghostbusters, the eponymous paranormal exterminators will take to the streets in a 1984 Cadillac hearse made of scrounged parts instead of the 1959 Cadillac ambulance rejiggered by Dr. Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd).
Naturally, EW had to test out the lean, mean, ghost-hunting machine, and yours truly got a chance to take a joy ride through downtown (and downpour-ing) New York. In the video above, I take a tour of the battered vehicle’s many features — you need space for all that gear! — and had a Twinkie or two to celebrate. Luckily, none of the Twinkies were 35 feet long or weighed approximately 600 pounds. And there was no psychokinetic energy detected in the New York area!
Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
