If you thought getting a ticket to Hamilton sucked, try getting an audition.
Tituss Burgess sent up the impossibility of cracking Broadway’s hip-hop golden egg with a hilarious short that debuted during Sunday’s Tony Awards ceremony.
In the clip, Burgess reprises his character from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt — wannabe diva Titus Andromedon, who here displays his stage chops in an effort to get his homemade Hamilton audition seen. But nobody gave him audition materials, so he’s writing his own story. Who lives, who dies, who listens to your 16 bars of pop/rock?
EW has the exclusive peek at the clip below:
Of course, Burgess should have no issue getting an audition in real life. The actor is a Broadway alum who originated a role in The Little Mermaid (as Sebastian the crab) and blew the roof off the 2009 revival of Guys and Dolls as Nicely-Nicely Johnson. He’s also appeared on the Main Stem in Jersey Boys and Good Vibrations.
