The death of singer Christina Grimmie continues to send shock waves throughout the music industry, including those with ties to The Voice. Grimmie, who was tragically shot after a concert in Florida on Friday, wowed the judges during season 6 of NBC’s talent competition show. Blake Shelton, Demi Lovato, and more celebrities have since spoken out about the loss.
“I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl,” tweeted Shelton, who honored Grimmie by turning his chair for her during her blind audition with her cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” “Keeping [Christina Grimmie’s] family in my heart and mind,” he added.
Earlier, The Voice released a statement on social media on Grimmie’s passing. “We are heartbroken. [Christina Grimmie] is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family,” it read. “There are no words. We lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice. Our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of [Grimmie].”
