Kate Walsh and Derek Luke have joined the cast of Netflix’s original series 13 Reasons Why, EW has confirmed.

The series, which is based on the popular YA novel by Jay Asher, will follow Clay (Dylan Minnette) after he receives a box of cassette tapes left behind by his classmate and crush, Hannah (Katherine Langford), who recently died by suicide. On the tapes, Hannah explains to 12 people how they each played a role in her death.

Walsh will play Hannah’s mother, while Luke will costar as Mr. Porter, Hannah’s guidance counselor and one of the people from the tapes. Among the high-profile producers on the project are Selena Gomez and Spotlight director Tom McCarthy, who is also set to helm the show’s first two episodes.

The news was first reported by Deadline.
