Warner Bros. is hoping Sacha Baron Cohen has the magic touch.
EW has confirmed that the Brothers Grimsby and Alice Through the Looking Glass actor is attached to star in Mandrake the Magician, a big-screen adaptation of the Lee Falk comic strip about a dapper prestidigitator who uses his powers of illusion and hypnotism to fight crime.
Etan Cohen, who made his directing debut with Get Hard after scripting movies including Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3, is attached to helm the project, which is in the early stages of development at WB. The studio acquired the rights to Mandrake in 2012, and before that the property had bounced around Hollywood for several years.
Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment is producing.
