Father John Misty, “Prius Commercial Demo 1”

The Canadian singer’s husband René Angélil died in January after a long battle with throat cancer, and Dion’s first single since nods to her loss while reaffirming her vocal prowess. Her take spurns the crunchy power chords of Queen’s original for wild violins and symphonic ornamentations — but Dion’s vocals elevate her version to Freddie Mercury levels. A- –Eric Renner Brown
