Britney Spears brought her nearly two decades of hit pop songs to the stage for a career-spanning medley at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.
Spears, who didn’t play any new songs as many had expected, tore through “Work Bitch,” “Womanizer,” a cover of “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “Breathe on Me,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Touch of My Hand,” and “Toxic.” Not played during the retrospective, her biggest hits: “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!… I Did It Again.”
Thanks to her Las Vegas residency that began in 2013, Spears has given her fair share of live performances in recent years. At last year’s Billboard Music Awards, Spears gave an energetic performance of “Pretty Girls” with Iggy Azalea.
Spears’ most recent album, 2013’s Britney Jean, spawned singles “Work Bitch” and “Perfume.” Recently, the singer has focused largely on her Vegas residency, acting career, her very active Instagram account, and her new mobile game.
Spears was honored with the Billboard Millennium Award at the show, which has only been given to two other artists before her: Beyoncé and Whitney Houston.
