Billy Bush had better reset his alarm clock.

PEOPLE has learned that the Access Hollywood alum was officially welcomed to the Today show on Tuesday. Bush, 44, is set to join the 9 a.m. programming hour and, according to a memo sent to Today staffers, has been brought in to “continue to build a compelling and competitive hour focused on lifestyle and entertainment.”

The memo continued, “Billy has been a part of the TODAY extended family for quite some time – he brings boundless energy, a great interviewing style and a deep knowledge of pop culture. During 15 years as host of Access Hollywood, and 6 years as co-host of Access Live, Billy has covered and interviewed literally everyone in Hollywood.”

News of Bush’s new gig surfaced in late April and was followed but the news that Today‘s Natalie Morales, 43, would be heading to Access Hollywood, which Bush anchored since 2004.

Bush and Morales’ moves are among several morning-show shakeups that have been announced of late, most notably April’s news that Michael Strahan, 44, would leave his Live co-hosting gig alongside Kelly Ripa to co-anchor ABC’s Good Morning America.

Bush will first appear on Today – which airs weekdays (7-11 a.m. ET) on NBC – during the Olympics this August.
