American Psycho‘s twisted protagonist Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) has almost no admirable attributions. As Margot Robbie can attest, Bateman’s morning routine is worth imitating.
The star of the upcoming Suicide Squad starred in a parody of the scene for Vogue, coinciding with her cover appearance.
Catfish directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost mimic the scene and beats from the 2000 film faithfully. Well, almost faithfully, even accounting for the swapping of the Les Misérables poster for the Hamilton one. Robbie’s routine is more eccentric than Bateman’s: she uses cold metal spoons instead of an ice pack for her eyes, and a placenta-infused facial toner “for that third trimester glow without the cravings.”
“There is an idea of Margot Robbie, some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory,” she says, slowing transforming her accent into her native Australian. “Maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable. I simply am not there.”
