It’s no secret that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson loves social media — just take a look at his active and highly popular Instagram and Twitter accounts. Now the wrestler-turned-movie star is setting his sights on conquering yet another media platform: YouTube.
Johnson announced Tuesday that the production company he co-founded with producer Dany Garcia, Seven Bucks Productions, is teaming up with online distributor Studio71 to launch a YouTube channel this summer. The new channel will feature videos from Johnson, collaborations with online talent, and also a scripted online action series.
“Other than my family, social media is my strongest relationship and it’s allowed me to connect on a very direct and personal level with fans globally,” Johnson said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with the world-class team at Studio71 to deliver cool, compelling and entertaining content for audiences around the world to enjoy.”
Johnson shared a teaser for the new venture, which reveals that the channel will launch sometime this summer.
