Kentucky Derby: Puppies predict winner on The Tonight Show

Posted on

If you’re unsure which horse to bet on for the 2016 Kentucky Derby, allow Jimmy Fallon to make the decision with the help of adorable puppies.

On Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show, 16 golden retriever puppies represented the top 16 race horses competing Saturday. To determine the winner, he had a trough of kibble placed at the end of a pseudo racetrack, and outlined the rules to the eager pups.

“Now before I release you, listen up,” he said. “No butt sniffing, no peeing, okay? I want a clean race. No wandering.”

After a close race, puppy No. 8 was determined the winner, predicting that Mor Spirit — ridden by jockey Gary Stevens and trained by the legendary Bob Baffert — will be victorious at the famed event this year.

The Kentucky Derby airs live on NBC Saturday at 4p.m. ET. Watch the puppies in the clip below.
