Miles Teller will lace up the gloves this awards season. The Whiplash star’s boxing biopic Bleed for This is set to open Nov. 4 in limited release before going wide Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving, Open Road Films announced Tuesday.

Written and directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room), the film stars Teller as Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, a junior-middleweight champ whose prizefighting career was derailed in 1991 when he broke his neck in a car accident. Although doctors told him he’d never walk again, Pazienza recovered and returned to the ring with the help of trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart). The cast also includes Katey Sagal, Ted Levine, Ciarán Hinds, and Amanda Clayton.

On its Nov. 4 date, Bleed for This is currently scheduled to open opposite Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Warner Bros’. comedy Bastards, Fox’s animated movie Trolls, and Focus Features’ drama Loving.
