A few new details about the stand-alone adventure Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and of Star Wars: Episode VIII were exposed to the world today — and not all of them intentional.
First up, Rogue One costar Mads Mikkelsen, whose character in the Dec. 16 film has not yet been revealed in an official capacity, let slip in the Sky News interview above that he plays the father of Felicity Jones’ character, Jyn Erso. The actor, who also appears in this year’s Doctor Strange, seems to recognize right away that he has said too much, but when pressed to confirm whether Darth Vader will feature in Rogue One, Mikkelsen seals his lips.
Meanwhile, over in another part of the galaxy, Episode VIII director Rian Johnson celebrated the mid-point in principal photography by releasing two black and white behind-the-scenes images.
It’s a testament to the unquenchable thirst for Star Wars details that two grainy snapshots of crew workers polishing the set could result in a news story, but there you have it.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is out on Dec. 16; Episode VIII arrives in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
