Beverly Cleary turned 100 years old on Tuesday. Her books, which follow the adventures of Ramona Quimby, her sister Beezus, Ralph S. Mouse, and all of Cleary’s other creations, have delighted and inspired readers for decades now. The Ramona stories in particular did not shy away from the tough issues of childhood, though they always stayed bright and colorful.
