Last week, Melissa McCarthy took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to announce that she would be reprising her role as Sookie St. James for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival. Not surprisingly, fans were ecstatic by the long-awaited addition of Lorelai’s BFF, and that includes Sutton Foster.

“She was such a major part of the original and it was sad to think of her not being a part of it, so I’m thrilled,” Foster told EW on the TV Land Icon Awards purple carpet at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday. Foster will appear in the revival, reuniting her with Bunheads creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

The actress, currently starring in Younger, continued of her excitement, “My husband actually was like, ‘Big announcement, Melissa McCarthy is going to be on Gilmore!’ I’m really close with Amy and Dan [Palladino] and everybody in the Gilmore world and I know they really wanted to make it work.”
