Entertainment Weekly has inked a multi-year partnership with the ATX Festival, and will be the presenting sponsor for the closing night event reuniting the cast of Ugly Betty.
Leading lady America Ferrera will be joined by Eric Mabius, Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton, Michael Urie, Ashley Jensen, Ana Ortiz, Tony Plana, Mark Indelicato, and Rebecca Romijn at ATX, which will take place June 9-12 in Austin, Texas. “I am so excited for the Ugly Betty cast to be reuniting at ATX,” Ferrera says. “They are truly my family and we can’t wait to celebrate together.”
“Having EW host last year’s closing night reunion with the Gilmore Girls was an incredible experience and our audience loved watching the Q&A with the cast and creator on EW.com,” said Henry Goldblatt, editor-in-chief at Entertainment Weekly. “I couldn’t be happier for us to expand our partnership in the festival’s fifth year.”
As part of the festival sponsorship, EW will also host various panels throughout the weekend, with coverage planned across multiple platforms, including EW Radio (channel 105) on SiriusXM, EW.com and in the magazine, which reaches an audience of nearly 27 million fans. Additionally, EW will host multiple “After Dark” happy hours celebrating select casts who will be attending ATX.
“Expanding our relationship with Entertainment Weekly to multi-year presenting partner, after last year’s successful collaboration, will allow us to continue to reach a broader audience, not just for the annual festival in Austin, but also for our year-round programming events,” said Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson, co-executive directors and founders of the ATX Television Festival. “We’re grateful to Henry Goldblatt, Rich Battista, and the wonderful team at EW, for recognizing how perfectly our brands align, and we look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.”
As previously announced, Norman Lear will receive the ATX Award for Achievement in Television Excellence this year, while other panels include reunions for The O.C. writers room, Friday Night Lights, Everybody Loves Raymond, and The Shield writers room, as well as panels and screenings for UnREAL, Dead of Summer, Preacher and much, much more.
