PICK OF THE WEEKEND
The Walking Dead
AMC, 10 p.m.
The zombie drama ends its sixth season with a 90-minute banger that finally delivers the much-anticipated introduction of the one they call Negan, that bat-wielding nemesis who’ll be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. According to (the admittedly biased) Andrew Lincoln, “This is the greatest entrance ever written.” And thanks to EW’s own Walking Dead scholar Dalton Ross, you can read all about that (and more!) here.
Cinemax, Friday, 10 p.m.
Not sure about this action-filled drama yet? Maybe our critic Jeff Jensen can change your mind.
GoT + SNL
Saturday Night Live
NBC, Saturday, 11:35 p.m.
With host Peter Dinklage, musical guest Gwen Stefani, and at least one Game of Thrones sketch, no doubt.
The Story of God With Morgan Freeman
Nat Geo, Sunday, 9 p.m.
Whoever came up with the idea for a miniseries that sends Morgan Freeman — a.k.a., the voice of God — around the globe to explore world religions deserves to go to Heaven.
Call the Midwife
PBS, Sunday, 8 p.m.
A baby is born with no arms or legs? Heavens, call all the midwives!
2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards
TBS/TNT/TruTV, Sunday, 8 p.m.
The ceremony will include live performances from Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik, as well as an award for “Most Meme-able Moment” — for which (gasp!) Taylor Swift and Kanye West are both nominated.
51st Academy of Country Music Awards
CBS, Sunday, 8 p.m.
This ceremony, however, looks like it will be very Kanye West-less.
