After last week’s announcement that Alicia Keys is joining NBC’s The Voice as a judge for the upcoming 11th season, perhaps no one is more excited than her son Egypt. On Tuesday, Keys posted a video to her Facebook of the 5-year-old singing a gleeful tune about her new job and offering his approval with a thumbs up.
Egypt’s musical endorsement means more than that of the average 5-year-old; not only are his parents Keys and producer Swizz Beatz, but that he recently got a producer credit on a song off of Kendrick Lamar’s newest album.
Keys and fellow Voice newcomer Miley Cyrus will join current judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. They’ll be taking over from Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams.
“The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable,” Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment’s president of alternative and late night programming, previously said in a statement. “We’re thrilled that they’ll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season.”
