Big Star Third Live is back this spring with some new friends.
The fluid collection of musicians who honor the ’70s pop rock group’s third album, also known as Sister Lovers, will play in Los Angeles in April with a star-studded collection of collaborators.
Jeff Tweedy and Pat Sansone of Wilco, Mike Mills of R.E.M., and Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo are among those who will play alongside vintage Big Star member Jody Stephens and later-day additions Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer. Former Semisonic member and songwriter Dan Wilson also joins the party, in addition to Jessica Pratt, and a full chamber orchestra led by the Kronos Quartet. Carl Marsh, who wrote Third‘s original orchestrations, will conduct.
