DC rebooted its comic book universe less than five years ago with the New 52 stories. Now, the powers that be are planning another massive overhaul beginning this summer and continuing over the next two years. Geoff Johns, DC’s chief creative officer, was accompanied by other creatives at this weekend’s WonderCon to reveal details on the hefty lineup.
It all begins this May 25 with the release of the DC Universe: Rebirth special, written by Johns. The 80-pager will set up stories that’ll be continued in various books released throughout the year.

DC publisher Jim Lee remarked during the panel, “At the end of the day, Dan and I are comic book people. This is what we live and breathe. The comics are the source material for what you’re seeing in other media. We’ve got to keep that vibrant and exciting, and that’s what Rebirth is about.”
While artwork for the Rebirth slate and new titles were revealed on Twitter in conjunction with the WonderCon announcements, the centerpiece were the creatives behind them. James Tynion IV will write Detective Comics, Joshua Williamson will write Flash, Benjamin Percy will write Green Arrow, Johns will return with Sam Humphries to pen a new Green Lanterns story, and Tim Seeley will write Nightwing.
