Elijah Wood is on the case. The Lord of the Rings alum has landed the role of Todd, the reluctant assistant to the titular detective in BBC America’s comedic thriller Dirk Gently.
Adapted by Max Landis, writer of the found-footage superhero movie Chronicle, the series is based on Douglas Adams’ books about an eccentric crime-solver who believes in the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.
Wood’s character is a sort of anti-Watson who describes himself as “my own messed up person with my own messed up problems,” per the BBCA announcement.
Dirk Gently is scheduled to air in the fall with eight one-hour episodes.
