Anna Kendrick saves Miles Teller from 'success' in exclusive Get a Job scene

Posted on

Friends, millennials, tuition-debt Bernie Sanders supporters… lend me your ears.

Get a job.

Apologies. That came out harsh. I meant, go see Get a Job. The new film from Dylan Kidd (Rodger Dodger) stars Miles Teller and Anna Kendrick as wide-eyed recent grads eager to take over the world — only to discover a downsizing corporate culture that greets them with a cold stiff-arm. Will’s got a cool job waiting for him at LA Weekly (until he doesn’t), and Jillian’s got the more lucrative gig at Johnson & Johnson. But their fast-track to the corner office is bound for some reversals, and in-debt Jillian might even have to move in with Will and his slacker friends (Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicholas Braun).

Kendrick is perfectly cast as a driven millennial, the kind of girl who can say, “I have a lot to offer the world and this is just the beginning,” out loud. Those that admire her work in Up in the Air, where she played an ambitious drone determined to maximize the efficiency of corporate downsizing, will appreciate the residue of that character in Jillian. In Teller, she has an ideal dancing partner, and it’s fun to think of the scary J.K. Simmons stories they both can tell

In this exclusive clip from the film (above), things are looking up for Will… sort of. He’s landed a job at a shady start-up where a rapacious Marcia Gay Harden is holding out the promise of a vice-president’s office. It’s time for the pretty girl in front of Will to make her play, not just for his heart but for his soul.

Here’s the trailer for Get a Job, which also stars Bryan Cranston, Alison Brie, Ravi Patel, and Jorge Garcia.

Get a Job opens in theaters and On Demand on March 25.
