Keys N Krates, an electronic trio out of Toronto, first broke out in 2013 with the release of their third EP SOLOW (their first release on Steve Aoiki’s Dim Mak Records). The next year, their 2014 collaboration with Grandtheft, “Keep It 100” soundtracked a Minions commercial, they dropped another EP Every Nite, and launched their first North American headling tour. “Save Me,” their 2015 single with Katy B is currently nominated for the 2016 JUNO Best Dance Recording of the Year.
This January, they released their third EP on Dim Mak Records and have spent the winter on the Midnite Mass Tour, which ends in April. To continue the marathon, they’re splitting time this week between SXSW in Austin and Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
With a schedule like that, the producers are skilled at finding ways to maxmimize downtime. Below, keyboardist Matisse shares with EW what he cues up to chill out.
