The former WWE fighter, who celebrated his 47 birthday on Jan. 18, reprises his role of the hulking Drax for the sequel. He tweeted a photo of himself from the gym getting into “#Draxmode.”
Earlier this month, writer-director James Gunn posted a photo of the finished script to Instagram, while Bautista’s costar Zoe Saldana (Gamora) tweeted, “the gang is getting back together,” earlier this week.
Bautista and Saldana rejoin Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Michael Rooker as Yondu. Not much is known about the plot, but Kurt Russell confirmed he’s in talks for a role in the sequel, which will address the mysterious identity of Peter Quill’s dad.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
